I have received piano lessons from Mr. Ritchie for the past 12 years, and it has been one of the most fulfilling undertakings of my life. Every lesson is filled with the perfect blend of challenge and fun, and - thanks to his constant encouragement - I have grown to love music more than I ever thought was possible. At lessons, I am given the freedom to experiment and find my own musical voice while being gently directed to perfect my skills. Caring not only about my songs, but also about my general welfare, Mr. Ritchie has become not only a musical teacher, but a mentor as well.

I have taken piano lessons from Mr. Ritchie for the past seven-ish years, and he was my elementary school music teacher for two years before that. I feel confident in saying that he has been one of the most influential people in my life thus far, both in a musical sense and a personal sense. There is something rare in the way he teaches— an ability to encourage excellence in a traditional sense while still being incredibly positive and forgiving. I was far from a perfect student, but not once did he allow me to feel inadequate. Instead, he guided me through the music (and life lessons) I was learning with a balance of correction and support. Such a safe learning environment was a major factor of me growing into the musician I am today, and I will always be thankful to Mr. Ritchie for being in my corner even when I wasn’t.

I am grateful for the opportunity to receive piano lessons for my daughters and myself under the instruction of Jason Ritchie. We all enjoy his positive attitude and look forward to our lessons each week. I admire his pride and passion for teaching, and the way he inspires a love of piano through realizing the student’s potential. His methods are individual and his style gentle. Many times I find myself in awe of his ability to relate a lesson to something in everyday life, in a way that makes you have an A-HA moment. His patience seems never ending and the way he praises the accomplishments of the student, no matter how big or small, is an example that makes me want to be a better parent and person. And from the mouths of my children: “He makes piano fun!”. Jason Ritchie has a gift, and we feel blessed to receive the benefits of that. Should you find yourself in a position to enrich the lives of your children, or yourself through music, don’t hesitate – your world will open up in a way you never imagined.

I have taken piano lessons from Mr. Ritchie for the past 8 years, and I have loved every second of it! He makes playing the piano so much fun and he is a genuinely fun person too. We would always have conversations about the most random things, while still being productive and challenging my technique and repertoire. He always cared how I was doing and how I was feeling with the new pieces and life in general, and I am extremely grateful for all the lessons I’ve taken (and learned!) from him over the years!

Our son and daughter have been receiving piano lessons from Jason for the last six years, and we have found this to be one of the best investments we have made in our children. Not only has Jason given our children the skills to play the piano, but he has also reinforced the theory behind the musical styles, and has made it both challenging and fun for them. He has also opened their eyes up to the gift that they now posses, and encouraged them to use this to bless others by playing Christmas songs at a retirement home during the holiday season. He always pours himself into our children, and our family, and provides our kids with a deeper sense of self worth and a respectful pride in having accomplished musical pieces that they initially believed that they were incapable of playing. Jason's love of teaching has been a blessing for our kids and our family.

Jason Ritchie has been a piano teacher for my daughter the past 7 years. During that time his attitude has always been positive and encouraging while providing the utmost quality. In addition to his cheerful and calm style, I feel this makes him the best piano teacher we could ever have! Lessons have been and continue to be a great positive experience for my daughter. Jason is a man of great musical knowledge with the unique ability to relate that knowledge to his students in an enjoyable way. He teachers more than just the notes by talking as though the music is written and uncovering the repeated patterns within the music. Exploring this way not only helps my child to be a better pianist but it enriches her experience at each lesson. I would highly recommend Jason Ritchie to anyone!

We consider our family privileged to be part of the Ritchie Piano Studio. Jason Ritchie offers students much more than a lesson in playing the piano --- it is clear to me that he also gives them skills to succeed in life and a friendship that I know they will cherish as they cross into young adulthood and beyond. His interest in his students and passion for his field are just two of the reasons he is such a talented piano teacher. As most parents of young musicians can relate to, we have had experiences with piano lessons in the past where practicing was a chore and lessons were exhausting. But since joining Mr. Ritchie's studio, my children look forward to their piano lessons each week and are eager to make him proud of what they've accomplished in between classes. Mr. Ritchie's approach to teaching is to encourage, inspire and guide while empowering his students to make their own decisions. My children have blossomed into better musicians while part of his studio and their musicality, focus, appreciation for the arts, mental agility, and confidence has grown as well.

Jason has been teaching 4 of my children over the past 5 years. We couldn’t be happier! We went through several different piano teachers, but Jason’s philosophy and methods have worked the best for my children. His philosophy that music lessons should be fun while playing technically advancing repertoire, studying theory, and consistent practice is extremely important in learning the proper technique. He has impacted my kids in a positive way. Because he is an elementary school music teacher, he has a wonderful way with many different ages and abilities. He pushes my children to be their best! I now have excellent piano players in my home! In addition to being a great piano teacher, he is also a technical genius so the wonderful multi-camera cinematography of recitals as well as prompt posting on an easy-to-share website is an added bonus. It's amazing to reflect and see the progress of the kids from one recital to the next on all on one site.

I didn’t have any musical training myself, so when my daughter asked to take piano lessons at the end of first grade I didn’t know where to look or where to start. One of my neighbors recommended Mr. Ritchie, and we were lucky enough to get a spot to begin lessons with him that next fall. From lesson one, my daughter was hooked. I was amazed at how quickly she learned, and how much she loved it! She continued lessons with him for 8 years, and through it all she kept that excitement to learn and grow. I know this was all due to Mr. Ritchie and how much he cared about her as a person and as a growing musician. His love for music and his students is inspiring to watch, and it was such a blessing for us to be a part of it.

My son just finished his 9th year of lessons with Jason and it has been a tremendously positive experience for the entire family. He is extremely patient yet knows how to push his students to excel. Jason has been a great mentor and teacher and has fostered a deep appreciation for music for my son that we know will continue throughout his entire life. We are grateful for his teaching and highly recommend his studio.

My daughter took piano lessons with Mr. Ritchie for many years. There were stretches where she would sit at the piano immediately when she got home from school still wearing her backpack, and stretches where she only played at her lessons. There were lessons where I heard lots of piano playing, and some where I hardly heard any. That was okay with me. Mr. Ritchie was more than a piano teacher, he was a mentor. Sometimes kids need a supportive adult other than their parents and school teachers. We don’t have any family in the area, so I appreciated that Mr. Ritchie was someone she and I both trusted. But did my daughter actually learn piano? Oh my goodness, yes! She has a natural gift for music, and Mr. Ritchie was the perfect teacher to keep her challenged, but not overwhelmed. She’s now in college majoring in Music Education (vocal). She was able to test out of several required piano classes and pick up where she left off with Mr. Ritchie. Her college piano teacher has encouraged her to make herself available as an accompanist for local high schools. I’m excited that she will be coming home soon after finishing her freshman year. The house has been too quiet!
